X tests upvotes and downvotes

X tests upvotes and downvotes: Will the Like heart soon be gone?

On the platform X (formerly Twitter) is changing its interface again. Some users suddenly no longer see a heart button, but a Thumbs-up icon - and some even have an additional Thumbs-down on. What is behind this test and what does it mean for the platform and its users?

Heart out, thumbs in: X switches reactions

In current tests, X replaces the classic heart symbol with a thumbs-up button. The arrangement of the buttons has also been changed: The interaction icons have been moved to the bottom of the post and the Like button is now on the far left.

🧠 Why all this?
Elon Musk is pursuing the goal of making the design of X "cleaner" and tidier - less visual chaos, more focus on content.

Upvotes and downvotes: Users should rate posts

Even more exciting: Some users report a completely new function - they see both a thumbs up and a thumbs down under posts. This would allow X to introduce a direct feedback system, similar to Reddit or YouTube.

💡 Advantage: Users can not only show approval, but also signal disinterest or rejection - which could help the algorithm to make the feed more individual.

⚠️ Attention: There is no official information on the function yet - X does not have an active press department, and the tests are apparently only running for some of the users.

What's behind it? A more personalized timeline

With the up/downvote system, X could take the next step in the direction of algorithmically personalized feeds go. Depending on how you react to posts, the algorithm will show you more targeted content that really interests you.

📌 The thumb system would then not only replace the heart visually, but also extend it functionally.

Conclusion: X is becoming more interactive - but also more unpredictable

Whether this new feedback system is coming remains to be seen. One thing is clear: X is constantly testing new formats and designs, some of which are radically different from the old Twitter. This means for brands, creators and social media managers: stay tunedobserve - and remain flexible.
