A platform is a social network or a component of a social network. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are all social platforms. However, some marketers consider Facebook News Feed and Facebook Stories to be different platforms because they have different audiences and can use different marketing strategies.

A platform can also refer to a social media relationship management tool. In this case, it is a social media management platform.
