Shadowban

A shadowban is when a user is muted or banned on a social media platform (or forum) without receiving official notification.

Posts, comments, or activity may be hidden or made unrecognizable. Accounts may no longer show up in search or experience a drop in engagement because no one (including followers) can see the account's content in their feeds.

Most social media platforms claim no shadowbanning, but admit to downgrading or hiding public posts that violate community guidelines or are deemed inappropriate.
