Algorithm

An algorithm is basically a series of steps that a computer uses to accomplish a task. In the context of social media, an algorithm is the way a social platform determines what content to display to a particular user at a particular time. Social networks are notoriously secretive about how their algorithms work, but generally they use clues based on a user's social relationships and interactions to determine what content that user finds most attractive.
