Connect Google Sheets with DotSimple - Queue (via Zapier)

Do you want to schedule social media content automatically - but not post it immediately? With the Queue function from DotSimple you can set a fixed publication frequency, e.g. every Tuesday at 12:00 noon. All you have to do is add the content to the queue automatically. In this article, I'll show you step by step how to do this with Zapier and Google Sheets set up.

📋 Requirements: What you need

  • A Google account with Google Sheets
  • A DotSimple Account with access token & workspace ID
  • One Zapier account

 

🗂️ Step 1: Prepare Google Sheet

Create a new Google Sheet with the following columns:

  • Text: The content of your social media post
  • Image linkPublicly accessible image link (CDN, Dropbox, Google Drive with sharing, etc.)

Important: It will no date is required - planning takes place automatically via the DotSimple queue.

 

⚙️ Step 2: Create a new zap

  1. Set up trigger:
    App: Google Sheets
    Event: New or Updated Spreadsheet Row
    → Select spreadsheet and sheet

  2. Action 1 - DotSimple file upload:
    App: DotSimple
    Event: Upload file
    → Log in to your DotSimple app, go to Settings → Access tokenclick on "Create new token", copy the token and enter it in Zapier.
    → The Workspace ID can be found in the address bar of your browser - it is located directly after /app/ in the URL (e.g. https://app.dotsimple.io/app/abc12345-def...) - simply copy this ID and paste it into Zapier to log in.
    → Select the image link from the Google Sheet

  3. Action 2 - Add mail to the queue:
    App: DotSimple
    Event: Create Post
    → Set the following fields:

    • Cue: true (activates the automatic in-feed mechanism)
    • Schedule: false (do not plan manually - the queue takes over)
    • IsOriginal: true (so that the contribution is recognized as an original)
    • Body: The text from the Google Sheet
    • Media: Select the file ID from the previous "Upload File" step
    • Platform: z.e.g. LinkedIn Page or Instagram Business

💡 Note: Set the queue in your DotSimple app beforehand, e.g. "Every Tuesday, 12:00 noon". As soon as a post is added to the queue via this Zap, DotSimple automatically schedules it for the next available time slot.

 

✅ Result: Automatically place content in the DotSimple queue

As soon as you add a new row in the Google Sheet, Zapier uploads the image and creates a post that is automatically added to your predefined Queue is added to DotSimple. Ideal for consistent publications without manual planning.

 

💡 Additional tips for your setup

  • Use multiple Google Sheets for different topics or platforms
  • Use a separate column for internal notes, e.g. author:in, campaign or status
  • Check regularly in DotSimple whether your cue schedule still meets your goals
